Coach Mac’s passion is teaching the game of basketball to our future leaders. He has been coaching and mentoring youth basketball for 10+ years and has been overwhelmed at times the impact it has had on the children he teaches. “I can’t describe the feeling when a player learns something new and overcomes an obstacle on the court. It reminds them that they can overcome obstacles in life.” Genesis Basketball Academy is coach Mac’s vision for the future of youth sports. “Too many leagues and academies focus on the wrong things and seep the fun out of the game for our children. It should absolutely be hard work and challenging but that should not be accompanied by the politics and win first attitudes that are destroying youth sports. We should be teaching the fundamentals of the game that are going to allow our players to excel at the next level.”
Coach Mac’s love for teaching the game of basketball is only rivaled by his love for his family and God. “God is first in my life and if I can teach one child the importance of putting him first through the game of basketball then I have done my job.” Coach Mac grew up a military brat but St. Louis is home. After traveling the world as a child he returned home and recognized that his community was in need of leaders. “Genesis Basketball Academy is teaching the game of basketball and developing leaders that put God first; Live to ball. Ball for Christ!”
