Skills Development Training:

These sessions focus on the fundamentals as well as endurance and core training. Our fundamental basketball skills are simple: dribbling and shooting. All other basketball skills are developed out of those two fundamental skills. As a result each and every skill and development training session will have a keen focus on those two fundamental skills and similar to how a child learns math, the fundamental skills act as a building block for development.

Team Practice:

These practices focus on more team orientated skills as well as increasing basketball IQ. At Genesis basketball we don’t teach our players set plays. We teach good spacing, hard cuts and anticipation. At the youth level teaching youngsters set plays is a bit counterproductive and typically results in the same players handling the ball and improving while the other players are standing and watching. On the defensive side off the ball we teach solid man to man principles and play very little zone. This is because zone defenses teaches kids to focus only on the ball and they often become stagnate only playing a certain spot.

League Play:

Skills are put to the test against other local St. Louis teams and academies. We find leagues that are able to match teams based on their skill level and provide safe, family friendly environments.

One-on-One Training

These training sessions are designed to give your child specialized one-on-one training. During these sessions the Genesis coach will get feedback from you and your child about what the focus of the training will be and use that time to isolate specific skills to improve.
